For more than a decade, Josh Statham has provided exceptional service and performance for home buyers and sellers in Powell River.
Recently named the MLS Top Producer in the Powell River Sunshine Coast Real Estate Board region for a third consecutive year, Statham believes the time is right to take the tools and beliefs he’s successfully implemented for years and expand on them with the creation of The Josh Statham Group.
“Selling or buying real estate has become much more complex,” says Statham. “Forming a team of people who excel in their individual fields ensures all aspects of a transaction are handled with the utmost care and ability.”
Changes in organized real estate are making the team format much more common, he adds.
“It really is the future,” says Statham. “It’s sort of funny to think that it wasn’t that long ago that a realtor would, on top of handling contracts and negotiations, take listing photos, measure homes and place advertisements, and if they were ever unavailable a random agent would be assigned to manage their portfolio.”
Midway through 2022, Justin Sparks joined Statham as a licensed realtor at 460 Realty and the impact of the additional help was immediate.
“To give real service you have to add something which cannot be bought or measured, and that is sincerity and integrity,” says Sparks.
The added support led to increased traffic and an almost immediate need to find more help.
Like Sparks, newly licensed agent Andrew Roddan had moved home, and was recruited with a focus on buyer services, while Josh and Justin worked together on the listing side.
“Being a new realtor, I have mostly worked with new buyers; helping people find security in a home and also knowing they are building wealth for the future is the most rewarding part of the job,” explains Roddan. “Joining a team gives my clients the best service possible by having access to a wealth of knowledge through my team members. I bring the enthusiasm and drive of being a young agent.”
Having multiple licensed agents working together ensures the ball is never dropped, says Statham.
“Communication is critically important in the client/agent relationship,” he adds.
Previous to creating The Josh Statham Group, Statham’s wife Elise had been helping him in an administrative role.
“I joined the team a long time ago,” chuckles Elise. “Josh incorporated shortly after the birth of our second daughter. This added a new level of administrative help, and the timing was right for me to get into the family business.”
Frances Van Tol discovered Powell River while photographing a wedding here; shortly thereafter she and her young family made the move to the Sunshine Coast. She has worked with Josh for many years, making his listings stand out from the rest with stunning photography, high-definition video, 3D imaging and graphic design.
“I’ve always said I get to do the fun part of real estate,” laughs Van Tol. “We have a really good flow working together – being part of a team means you’re never on your own and someone always has your back.
“There is a lot of creative freedom when showcasing a home and I always love finding its best angle. I take pride in making every listing stand out from the rest on the market, and to have a consistent, professional look.”
Completing the team is Johanna Jackson, social media and branding manager. The importance of professional social media management in today’s world cannot be overstated, she says.
“Tapping into social media marketing allows us to target specific demographics, interests and behaviours to get our listings in front of the right audiences,” adds Jackson.
Statham says he is excited for this new chapter in what has been a very rewarding career.
