Powell River Kings squandered a two-goal, third period lead in BC Hockey League action on Saturday, December 1, and ultimately dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at home to Alberni Valley.

Josh Coblenz and Ryan Brushett scored second period goals at Hap Parker Arena for the Kings, who controlled much of the game through 40 minutes and missed several quality chances to increase the lead.

Alberni Valley forward Dawson Tritt cut the lead to one three minutes into the third period, then scored again with 6:48 remaining to force overtime.

Jackson Doucet was the hero for the visitors, scoring 50 seconds into the extra frame to help his team earn in split in the two-game weekend series. Keaton Mastrodonato assisted on the game-winning goal.

Kings won 5-3 the previous night.

Powell River hosts Salmon Arm on Friday, December 7. Game time is 7 pm.
