Thomas Wardle stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead Powell River Kings in a 3-0 win over Langley Rivermen at Hap Parker Arena on Sunday, January 26.

Powell River scored once in each period, with goals coming from Brett Roloson in the first 20 minutes, Levi Glasman in the middle frame and Michael Abgrall in the third.

Roloson and Glasman also assisted on each other’s goals and were selected as the game’s second and third stars respectively. Wardle was named first star.

Jacob Badal, Devin Leduc, Jack Brackett and Jacob Slipec also picked up assists for the Kings, who won at home for the fourth straight time.

Powell River outshot Langley 27-26 and had several opportunities for more goals in the second period.

Slipec also rang a shot off the post late in the period.

Attendance was 738.

Kings host Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1, to conclude their six game home stand. Game times are 7 pm Friday and 5 pm Saturday.

Cowichan leads the BC Hockey League Island Division with 69 points, followed by Nanaimo (60), Powell River (53), Alberni Valley (51) and Victoria (37).
