Sports brief: Powell River soccer players win Island championship

Powell River members of Upper Island Riptide U18 soccer club [from left] Keaton Fougere, Chris Fisher and Russell Pielle recently celebrated winning the Vancouver Island Premiere League Championship with their teammates, including James Timothy (not pictured), who is also one of the Powell River players on the team.

The club is now through to the semi-final stage of the BC Coastal Cup after a 5-1 win over BC Tigres (Surrey) last weekend and will represent Vancouver Island at the A Cup Provincials from July 4 to 7 in South Surrey.
