APRIL WEATHER: So far, the month of April has been a whirlwind of changing weather. Tuesday, April 9, looked very different from the windy, rainy day of Monday, April 8. The wind blew the clouds and rain away giving the qathet region some sunny breaks, with a high temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. The photo above was taken on Second Beach at a low tide of 1.04 metres.

Weatherhood app's top five rankings today for coldest area on BC's coast put the qathet region in second place at a low temperature this morning of 2.9 degrees Celsius, and Whistler in first place at minus 1.7 degrees.

Sechelt on the lower Sunshine Coast, was one of the warmer regions today with an average temperature of 12.1 degrees.

qathet residents felt the temperature rise to 12 degrees around 12:30 pm today, Tuesday, April 9, but nighttime temperatures are still expected to hover between two and four degrees.

Wednesday will see a high of 11 degrees in the daytime and Thursday to Friday, the qathet region will see clouds and rain showers throughout the day. Saturday will be sunny with a high of 14 degrees.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, yesterday, on April 8, a total solar eclipse swept across North America, tracing a path from Mexico through the United States, and into Canada.  Although folks living in BC could only witness around a 17 per cent eclipse, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) posted a video of the 2024 total solar eclipse live event that can be seen here: youtube.com/watch?v=I9Xp2cYJifg.
