Talk about Thanksgiving. Thirteen local Dawson Creek girls headed south to take U15 gold in the Vancouver Female Hockey festival hosted by BC Hockey and Vancouver Female Hockey.
The tournament team, organized by head coach Jodie Atkinson, was created to give local female athletes the opportunity to play at their age level and against other female hockey players.
The team, composed of thirteen girls ranging in age from 10-14, entered the tournament at a U15 division. After playing a tiring six games the girls finished in first place, each earning themselves a gold medal for their hard work.
