SATURDAY, AUGUST 18

Art Chair Silent Auction

Chairs featuring one-of-a-kind works by some of Powell River’s finest artists will be on display and open for bids from Saturday, August 18, to Sunday, August 26, at Powell River Public Library. The auction is part of the Powell River Studio Tour weekend (August 25 and 26) and a fundraiser for the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. Starts Monday, August 13

Tuesday, August 14

Movie Under The Stars, weather permitting, begins at dusk at Larry Gouthro Park. This year’s feature is Space Jam. A concession will be open at 7 pm. Bring blankets and chairs to enjoy a movie on the big screen.

Wednesday, August 23

Teen Writing Workshop takes place from 1 to 3pm at Powell River Public Library. Teens working on stories for the Teen Writing Contest or other projects are invited to join this one-day writing workshop with teen services coordinator Megan Cole. No registration required. Wednesday, September 5

Terry Fox Run registration opens at 8:30 am at Powell River Recreation Complex, lower level; the run starts at 10 am. Choose 10 kilometre or 3.5 kilometre route torun, walk, cycle or skate. Participants and volunteers are invited to join the free pancake breakfast sponsored by Save-On-Foods after the run.

Community Foundation

Community Health

Concert Band

Reach to Recovery

Reach to Recovery provides hospital and home visits to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. Service offers one-on-one counselling with trained counsellors for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and provides information. Rotary Club of Powell River

Salvation Army

StrongStart ---- START UP WITH SCHOOL YEAR.

StrongStart early learning programs are available for children birth to pre-kindergarten at Kelly Creek Community School, James Thomson, Henderson and Westview elementary schools, and on the ORCA Bus. Clansman Pipe Band offers free bagpipe and drum lessons to potential band members of all ages. Student pipers buy their own practice chanter and tutor book.
