Malaspina Naturalists Club hosts Barbara Sherriff on her adventure exploring the geology and mysterious statues of Easter Island, plus a visit to the glaciers of Patagonia, in one presentation, 7:30 pm at Trinity Hall, United Church. Saturday, May 25

Powell River Chorus, conducted by Walter Martella, presents its Annual Spring Concert, 7:30 pm (doors open 7 pm) at James Hall at the Academy of Music.  The evening includes jazz, pop, blues and more. Tickets are $12 (12 and under free) at Armitage Mens Wear, from choir members, or at the door.

Sunday, May 26

Kiwanis Soap Box Derby takes place at a new location at the top of Barnet Street. Registration forms can be picked up at Quality Foods or before the race, which starts at 11 am. Participants must be age seven or over and vehicles must not be more than 70 pounds. There will also be face painting and a barbecue. For information, call 604.413.1068.

Powell River Garden Club will meet at Cranberry Seniors Centre at 7:15 pm. Featured speaker is Daniel Mosquin with his presentation: Plants for the Colour Red, or Red Reveries.

Powell River 4-H Clubs

Powell River Amateur Radio Club and Powell River Amateur Repeater Society meet at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at Westview Flying Club. Reach to Recovery

Reach to Recovery provides hospital and home visits to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. Service provides information and offers one-on-one counselling with trained counsellors for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Rotary Club of Powell River

StrongStart

StrongStart early learning programs are available for children birth to pre-kindergarten at Kelly Creek Community School, James Thomson, Henderson and Westview elementary schools, and on the ORCA Bus. Stroke Recovery

Powell River Stroke Recovery meets 9:30 am to 12:45 pm Tuesdays, September through June, at the Powell River Legion. Therapeutic Riding Association

Therapeutic Riding Association provides opportunities for volunteers to enjoy fresh air, exercise and guaranteed big smiles, 45 minutes a day or more, Monday to Thursday at Paradise Valley Exhibition Grounds.
