No one was injured in a house fire in Halfmoon Bay on Jan. 13, but the structure was destroyed.

At 2:41 p.m. Halfmoon Bay Fire Department received a callout for a structure fire on Backhouse Road, near the Rockwater Secret Cove Resort.

Halfmoon Bay Fire Chief Ryan Daley said that one person was inside the house when the fire started but managed to get outside safely.

While the structure was completely lost in the blaze, emergency crews stopped any potential spread by protecting all surrounding exposures and kept the fire to the house of origin.

The fire department sent out four trucks and a total of 15 firefighters to respond to the fire.

Sechelt Fire Department also attended the fire through the Mutual Aid Program, supplying one apparatus and four firefighters.

An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is still underway.

Daley added that the weather wasn’t on their side during the battle, but that the quick response from fire crews and the mutual aid program were admirable.
