Ever thought of a funny or offensive personalized licence plate and wondered why you haven’t seen it on a vehicle?
Well, it’s likely that ICBC has nixed it for a whole host of reasons.
The insurance authority has just released its rejected plates for 2022 and there are, as ever, some beauties in there.
Among the tamer, but amusing ones, were “ZOOOOM” and “U2SLOW,” and there was also BLU BYU, SHIRAZ and HELL NO.
They were a part of the 3,135 personalized licence plate slogans that were rejected by the corporation last year.
But there were many more offensive and disturbing requests, which we won’t mention here, but we know many of you may check by clicking here.
33 per cent didn't make the cut
In total, ICBC received 9,467 slogan requests for personalized licence plates last year, with 67 per cent approved and 33 per cent not making the cut.
Slogans, say ICBC, are rejected if they don't meet guidelines and criteria or if they're “deemed objectionable” - for instance, if they're discriminatory, sexually suggestive, abusive or derogatory in any language.

“We've seen increased interest in personalized plates in the last few years," said Sandy-Anne Dodig, ICBC's Manager of Insurance Operations Support.
“Personalized licence plates can be a fun and creative way to express yourself, and are available for regular passenger vehicles, motorcycles, vans, light trucks and motor homes."
