Sunshine Coast bears take a load off

A black bear and it's cub take advantage of their neighbours' deck

Larry Hamblin and his wife had a bit of "shock and surprise" the morning of Sept. 6 when they saw two black bears passing through their property.

Hamblin said after some exploring, the cub returned and jumped up on their deck, where it proceeded to get comfortable and eat something it had brought with it.

Shortly after, the mother bear returned to check on the cub and sat next to it with both her front paws comically up on the deck, "almost like she was waiting for somebody to serve her," said Hamlin.

Hamblin said bears pass through their property often but had never relaxed on the deck before.
