Canadians should be prepared to "weather the storms" this winter, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac 2021/2022 long-term forecast for the country.

But B.C. might finally catch a break later in the season.

For southern B.C., the "winter will be warmer and drier than normal, with below-normal snowfall," notes the Almanac.

The chilliest period is expected to last from late December into early January, with more snowfall during this time, too.

From Dec. 1 to Dec. 11, the Almanac is forecasting "rainy periods" with milder temperatures, followed by a couple of sunny days before the wet weather returns on Dec. 14. After that, the region is expected to see rain, snow, and showers, but with mild temperatures.

The rainfall is expected to continue into the holiday season, but with colder temperatures.

Following a milder finish to winter, April and May's forecast includes "near-normal temperatures" with above-average rainfall. Summer is also expected to be milder and rainier than average.
