Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Malaspina begins its 2011-2012 training year from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on Tuesday, September 6 at the Timberlane cadet hall. The sea cadet program is open to boys and girls aged 12 or older. Cadets take part in fun activities and challenges supervised by trained adult leaders.

Sea cadets participate in many activities both on and off the water, for example, sailing, first aid training, seamanship training, team sports, public speaking, leadership training, summer camps, international exchanges, ship deployments and tall ship deployments. The sea cadet program is sponsored by the Department of National Defence in partnership with the Navy League of Canada. There is no cost to join sea cadets, however cadets and parents are expected to participate with fundraising as required by the local branch of the Navy League of Canada.
