BCHL’s Powell River Kings sign new player

Seventeen-year-old forward Thomas Belzil will play with the BC Hockey League team this weekend

The Powell River Kings announced the signing of University of Massachusetts-committed forward Thomas Belzil.

The 17-year-old forward is from Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and began this season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Janesville Jets where he had a goal and three assists in seven games.

Prior to Janesville, Belzil played at Bishops College School in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In 97 total games he scored 54 times and had 82 assists.

“I’m really excited to join the Kings,” stated Belzil. "The British Columbia Hockey League [BCHL] is a great league and I can’t wait to put my skills to test. I’m an offensively minded guy and I can bring a lot of energy.”

Belzil will make his Powell River Kings debut this weekend when they host the Nanaimo Clippers on Friday, October 13, and Saturday, October 14. Both games are at 7pm at Powell River Recreation Complex.
