Conservation association holds photo contest

Winner to be featured in calendar and two-week showing

Photographers have the opportunity of being featured in the 2013 Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA) fundraising calendar.

The society is holding a competition for a featured artist who has a portfolio of environmental images featuring the Sunshine Coast. The artist’s work will be aligned with a leader in the protection of biodiversity on the coast and submissions must reflect SCCA’s mandate to protect the natural biodiversity of the region.

The winning photographer’s personal vision of biodiversity will be shared through the society’s 2013 calendar and during a two-week showing at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre.

SCCA’s 2012 calendar was the first of what the society hopes will become an annual fundraising project. The calendar, Beauty and the Biodiversity, featured the work of photographer and board member Tella Sametz.

Deadline for submissions for the 2013 calendar is April 11. For more information and to download the application form, interested readers can visit the society's website or email events@thescca.ca.

The winner will be announced at the society’s annual Friends of the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association event, 5 to 7:30 pm, Tuesday, May 15 at the arts centre. The centre will hold an official opening for the event the following evening at 7 pm, Wednesday, May 16.
