With the assistance of Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department’s training crew, Firefighter Kim Caton of Northside Volunteer Fire Department has achieved her Firefighter II certificate. The certificate is recognized internationally by the fire service and is based on the same training and standards of all fire departments, career and volunteer.
With dedication and commitment, Caton completed the program of tests and practical evaluations in under a year. The legacy footprint that she will place on the community will be valued and appreciated.
The community benefits when fire departments share resources, experience and training. Malaspina firefighters regularly train with the guidance of Comox Fire Department and through courses administered by the Justice Institute of BC.
