New fire hall plans at council

Council was given a look at an architect’s plans for proposed fire hall to be located at Dieppe and Cranberry streets. Introducing the plans Alderman Gerry Gray, firefighting committee chairman, said the plans included details of an alternate site.

“Estimates should be in by the end of this week,” he said, and added that a tentative price tag was about $210,000.

Checking the plans, municipal engineer Mac Campbell noted the architects had included a dormitory for firefighter’s sleeping accommodation, whereas double or separate rooms would be more suitable.
