Laura Sayer captured the moment local class of 2022 graduates tossed their caps in the air during a ceremony at Powell River Recreation Complex on June 29.

The British North America Act uniting Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick was drafted in London, England, bringing Canadian confederation into effect.

In 1961, Diana, Princess of Wales, was born in Sandringham, England. She died in a 1997 car crash in Paris at age 36.

The forecast for Canada Day calls for mainly sunny skies and a high of 22 degrees Celsius. Clear conditions are expected in the evening, too, with a low of 12 degrees.
