On this day:
In 1811, Venezuela declared its independence from Spain, the first South American country to do so, which started the Venezuelan War of Independence, which ended 10 years later.

In 1996, Dolly the Sheep was cloned by a team at the Roslin Institute in Scotland using cells from an adult sheep. She was the first living cloned mammal and survived for seven years, five years shorter than predicted.

Today’s weather:
A mix of sun and cloud, and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon, is expected during the day on Tuesday, July 5, with a high of 21 degrees Celsius. The forecast calls for cloudy periods in the evening, a 30 per cent chance of showers and a low of 13 degrees.
