In 1931, Canadian hockey legend Jean Béliveau was born in Trois-Rivieres Quebec. The hall-of-fame centre won 10 Stanley Cups as a player, plus another seven serving as an executive, all with the Montreal Canadiens. He died in 2014.
In 1939, the first Marvel Comics issue, which featured the Human Torch, was published.
