In 1978, 918 members of the Peoples Temple religious organization, which was founded in Indiana, were murdered or committed suicide in Jonestown, Guyana, under the direction of its leader Jim Jones.
In 1982, Duk Koo Kim died from injuries sustained during a boxing match in Las Vegas against Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.
In 1984, after trailing 17-0, Winnipeg Blue Bombers came back to defeat Hamilton Tiger-Cats 47-17 to win the Canadian Football League’s 72nd Grey Cup championship.
