Vanesa Acuto took today’s featured image, capturing her dog Cayenne watching a recent sunset from Tla’amin Nation. Vanesa rescued the 10-year-old from Mount Currie, BC, when she was just three weeks old.

On this day:
In 1975, television host, actress, director, producer and screenwriter Drew Barrymore was born in California.

In 1980, in a semi-final game, the United States Olympic hockey team upset the Soviets Union by a score of 4-3 in Lake Placid, New York. The team went on to defeat Finland in the final and win the gold medal.

In 1997, scientists in Scotland announced the successful cloning of an adult mammal, producing a lamb named Dolly.
