Henderson Elementary School continues tasty tradition in Powell River

Annual pancake breakfast takes place prior to holiday break

Henderson Elementary School PAC hosted its annual pancake breakfast on the last day of school prior to the holiday break.

Powell River RCMP and Powell River Fire Rescue members helped serve pancakes and oranges to students, school staff, school board members and community workers.

“Youth engagement is a priority for the RCMP, not just locally but also across the country,” said RCMP staff sergeant Rod Wiebe. “Being able to take part in events such as this lets the kids get to see our officers in a non-enforcement role and see that we are very approachable. We thank Henderson for giving us this opportunity.”

After breakfast, RCMP and fire rescue members visited each class to read books with the students.

“It was a lovely morning filled with music, decorations and food with the many children and adults in our school community, including StrongStart families,” said the school’s office manager Patricia Good. “It was a special morning full of food and sharing.”
