Hive of information swarms website

Interest in nature develops into Peak blog

A new blog has been added to the Peak website. Beasts, bugs, birds and botany hive is a collection of nature explorations for anyone remotely interested in the natural world.

Inspiration for current and upcoming articles comes from various sources, said author Janet Southcott. “I am working on a story about nature cameras,” she said, “inspired by the visit of a friend who asked if I had been watching the Great Blue Heron cam on Cornell University’s website. I hadn’t, but soon was and the subject of cameras has opened up a vast collection of locations. The cameras are the peeping Toms of nature, invading the private world of wildlife, yet in doing so helping to build knowledge, understanding and respect for the subjects.”

Building knowledge, understanding and respect is what Southcott hopes her blog will do. She believes each person forms their environmental ethics based upon their curiosity and interest in the world around them.

Interested readers can visit the blog by going to the Peak website and clicking on Blogs.
