It is with heavy hearts we announce the early passing of our beloved partner, father and friend, Fred Stoeckner. He is survived by his partner Allison Coburn, his sisters Maria Pezzetta (Danny)and Hannalore Corkill (Ken), daughters Katie and Lindsay (Hayden) and baby Eli, stepson Jeff Coburn (Andrea) and step-grandsons Braeden and Pearson, stepdaughter Lisa Coburn and dearly held nieces and nephews in Ontario, and family in Germany.

Fred loved meeting new people, especially those who had a passion for something in life. He himself was “bigger than life” - a fast forward, hardworking, “get er done” self-starter and salty dog who spent most of his working life at sea. On land there didn’t seem to be any job too tough he wouldn’t tackle if it needed to get done. Each day started for him earlier than for most other people, and after a hard day’s work there was always a little time to knock off and have a beer with his buddies to talk over the day and plan the next one.

Life was never dull around Fred. He was loud, had a big heart, a great sense of humour and was quick to laugh, and if it was so, let you know of a better way to do things and why. If you could call Fred a friend, he was always someone you could count on to be there in your time of need. Even if you weren’t within his inner circle, as a professional mariner and captain of his own many crafts, he would do what was necessary to get you to safety no matter the cost.

Fred will be dearly missed by many whose lives he enriched, and for some, simply by having known him and to count him as a friend. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Rest in peace, Fred…until we meet again!
