In memoriam: Lionel Joseph Desilets

Lionel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, having reached his 100th birthday.

Lionel was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, served in WWII and moved to Powell River. He was lovingly married to Anne (Pravda), on August 9, 1947, for 67 years, and worked in the barker mill for 40 years, retiring in 1987.

Lionel married Rita DePape on February 28, 2014. He was a faithful lifelong member of the Assumption Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

He was predeceased by his wife Anne and daughter Adrienne (Bezeau), and is survived by children Rolland (Nancy), Yvonne (Calloway), Juliette (Rick), Jerome (Nadine), Luke (Angela) and Claire, 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, wife Rita, nine stepchildren and 15 grandchildren.

Lionel enjoyed his family and was a loving father; he was faithful in his prayer life, and talented in woodworking and gardening.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 3, 1 pm at Church of the Assumption.
