In memoriam: Norma Jean Carlson

Norma touched many hearts and will be very much missed.
Norma Jean Carlson

Our beautiful mom, Norma Jean Carlson, passed away on June 11, 2022, at Vancouver General Hospital after post-surgical complications.

During her final day she was surrounded by stories, songs, messages from loved ones, laughter and singing. She was very much at peace as she made her journey.

Born in 1945, Norma was raised in Powell River and chose this as the place to bring up her three daughters. Her family grew to include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and good friends. She lived with a sense of joy, tackled difficult situations with humour, had a desire to continuously learn, was extremely generous and valued kindness. She touched many hearts and will be very much missed.

Norma loved her family and friends deeply, filling them with laughter and smiles. She had a wonderful imagination and particularly enjoyed being around young children inspiring creative play. Her beautiful little house was always filled with special treats, baskets of toys, paints, musical instruments, stuffed bears and other playful items, which created many happy memories and traditions.

Norma was predeceased by her parents (Lois and Ernie Carlson) and her brother (John Carlson). She leaves behind her three daughters (Karen Tupper, Maxine VanBrabant and Tina Gordon), three sisters (Elsie Parsons, Madelaine Peterson and Barbara Merrill), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Her family invites you to join in celebrating her life on July 16, at the ARC Centre, 7055 Alberni Street, beginning at 3:30 pm.
