The recent Townsite Jazz Festival featured an eclectic and star-studded lineup of Canadian jazz luminaries alongside international talents and local musicians.
A symphony of music filled the neighbourhood from April 11 to 14, with performances taking place in venues ranging from the 400-seat Max Cameron Theatre to the cozy confines of the Shinglemill Pub.
Since its inception in 2018, the festival has provided an immersive experience that weaves the rich tapestry of jazz with the unique character of the qathet region. This year, the dynamic lineup of artists included Canadian jazz all-stars Phil Dwyer, PJ Perry and Brad Turner, the Cory Weeds Quartet, featuring New York City organist/pianist Brian Charette, the Duncan Symonds Band, Mimosa, the Karen Graves Quartet, the Ken Lister Trio, Hub City Rollers, Wunderbread and local musicians Walter Martella, Paul Carriere, Aaron Schweitzer and the qathet School District Alumni Jazz Choir.
