On behalf of the City of Powell River and its citizens, I wish to extend our congratulations to the class of 2022.

It is a momentous occasion and the whole city celebrates your achievements. What you have done is truly amazing considering that you had to pass grades 10, 11 and 12 during a pandemic.

On this occasion, my wife Laurie and I remember the graduation of all four of our children from Brooks Secondary School. How proud we were, as I am sure your parents are, as you say goodbye to the school that has been the focus of your lives for the last five years.

As students of Brooks, you are well prepared for the future. Celebrate your teachers, who guided you through your schooling.

Be proud of where you come from, as Powell River is proud of you.

Be full of optimism. The world is waiting for you.

Be appreciative of your parents, who got you to this point in your life with sacrifice and caring.

Now it’s time to celebrate with your classmates in a safe way.

One day, you’ll reunite and remember the challenges you overcame as the Class of 2022.
