qathet region dancers perform in 'classic tale with a modern twist'

Georgia Malamas and Katie McKamey landed major roles in Gibsons production

Laszlo Tamasik Dance Academy (LTDA) dancers Georgia Malamas [in white with green, pink and blue] and Katie McKamey [in black] performed together in the Sunshine Coast Nutcracker last month.

The pair each landed major roles in the production, which featured six performances by two casts at the Heritage Playhouse Theatre in Gibsons from December 17 to 20.

More than 80 performers between the ages of six and 19, from the qathet region to Gambier Island, spent months rehearsing for the production, which was promoted as: “A Classic Tale with a Modern Twist.”

Georgia and Katie auditioned virtually, learned the choreography in Gibsons, then practised in town and on the lower Sunshine Coast; they also travelled to Gibsons on weekends to rehearse.
