Rethinking island resource

Event focuses on schools future

An open house at Texada Elementary School will give parents and residents an opportunity to see what resources the school may have to offer.

“Over the years, the population of students at the school has steadily declined,” said Deidre Braak, a member of the Parent Advisory Council. “Currently, there are approximately 30 students enrolled in kindergarten through grade seven, in two classrooms of four grades each. One can’t help but wonder what the future has in store for our school.”

There have been discussions about making the school a community school, with courses for both adults and children, Braak added.

Those ideas and more will be part of the open house, which starts at 2 pm on Thursday, March 3 at the school.
