Texada Island’s first blues and roots festival, held at the Gillies Bay ballpark, demonstrated that the featured performers, all of whom are living within 100 kilometres of the island, are second to none. The blues and roots festival, sponsored by the Texada Arts, Culture and Tourism organization, is an outgrowth of the Jazz on the Rocks festival that ran in past on the island, providing a different idiom for music lovers.
