Society presents home and garden awards

Townsite Heritage Society of Powell River presented its annual Home and Garden Awards on Sunday, October 30 at Henderson House.

Henderson House is the new home of the society, and just like the building itself, these awards have a long history originally beginning in 1917 with a garden contest sponsored by the Powell River Company.

The awards program was reinstituted in 1992 as a way for the society to recognize the efforts of owners in maintaining their homes and gardens.

This year the society partnered with Rona Building Centre, Springtime Garden Centre and Mother Nature to present a gift certificate and plaque at a reception in honour of each winner. The society also acknowledges the financial assistance of the province of BC.
