Powell River Forestry Museum Society is planning to offer weekly train rides at Paradise Exhibition Park this season.
The rides will take place at the Open Air Farmers’ Market, beginning with 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on opening day, Saturday, April 27.
“For 2013, we hope to become a regular added attraction at the weekly Sunday market,” said Dave Florence, society president. “Weather permitting, and providing a reasonable number of riders participate, the train and hand cars will be available 12:30 to 2:30 pm each Sunday beginning May 5.”
In 2012, almost 2,000 riders participated in the train ride season that included Canada Day, BC Day and the Fall Fair.
More track has been added to the Paradise Valley railroad and volunteers have created an onsite storage facility for the train.
Rides for adults and children aged three and over cost $2. New members to help operate and maintain the train are always welcome. For more information, readers can contact Florence a 604.487.0356.
