If I had to name three essential things that have kept me alive since I was a small child, in no particular order, they would be grilled cheese sandwiches, oxygen and music.

October is the month to celebrate inclusion in BC. Community Living BC chair Michael Prince [centre] and three other board members visited Powell River earlier this month to tour facilities and programs provided by two local agencies.

It is Thanksgiving weekend. Do you know where your veggies are? More to the point, do you know where they came from? As you prepare your table for a gathering this weekend, be aware of what you might find in your garden.

The bigger your recycling bin the better, right? Well, don’t congratulate yourself too much when you tote a full bin to the recycling depot. To stop a flooding bathtub, we turn off the tap rather than grab a bailer.

We all have to grow up eventually. And there will always be a period in our life when we want to grow up, and when we don’t. It can be a truly stressful period when you feel as though you have to become an adult.

We enjoy garden ‘work’ in the fall best of all. The cool air is a welcome relief after the heat of summer and there are not many bugs to speak of. This is a great time for cleaning up the garden, dividing perennials and caring for the lawn.
