All London Drugs stores across Western Canada are now open again following a shutdown that lasted more than a week.
In a letter published Wednesday, May 8, president and COO of the Richmond-based company Clint Mahlman apologized to the public for "the inconvenience and any concerns" that may have arisen from the April 28 cybersecurity incident that closed down 79 London Drugs stores.
"As soon as we became aware of suspicious activity in our environment, we immediately engaged third party cybersecurity specialists from across North America to assist with containment, mitigation, and to conduct a forensic investigation," he wrote.
Mahlman confirmed there is currently "no evidence" that customer databases including health data and LD Extras data were compromised, but said the investigation is still ongoing.
"However, should we discover any evidence that customer information was impacted, we will inform our customers and privacy commissioners in accordance with privacy laws," said Mahlman.
He added all staff were "paid on their normal cycles" and those not directly involved in recovery efforts were given other tasks to "provide job security during this difficult time."
According to London Drugs' website, all stores are available to assist with emergency refill prescriptions and other urgent care, but they are still unable to fill new prescriptions as of now.
