Store brings positive experience and more to Texada Island

Texada Home & Garden offers a wide variety of products and supplies

Texada Island residents are now able to get a variety of home, garden and pet supplies, tools, and giftware at home with the opening of Texada Home & Garden. Operated by owners of Springtime Garden Centre, the new store will be a one-stop shop for home and garden needs.

“If you’re working on a project and misplace your hammer or measuring tape, you’ll now be able to run down the street instead of having to wait for your next trip to Powell River,” says Liz Quigley, manager of the new store.

In addition to quality locally grown perennials and annuals, and garden supplies customers expect from Springtime, the new location will also offer a variety of other products.

“We will have small tools and hardware, dog and cat food, wild bird seed and feeders, gifts and home décor items. We’ll be bringing in new items all the time, and we’ll have seasonal displays as well.”

The new store fills a need that exists on Texada.

“Springtime has a lot of loyal customers who travel from Texada to shop; now they can just drive down the road and enjoy the same pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience they are accustomed to.

“We’ve spent a lot of time and energy making it a lovely place for people to come to. We have also contracted a renowned local muralist who will paint the face of the building in the future. We want it to be somewhere special.”

Springtime’s standards for customer service and gardening advice provide a foundation for the business.

“We want everyone to have a positive experience at the store.”

The new store officially opened on March 1, although a grand opening celebration is on hold until COVID-19 restrictions are loosened to make outdoor gatherings possible.

“We are open seven days a week, though we haven’t quite figured out what our regular hours are going to be just yet. The best thing you can do right now is call us first.”

Liz hopes island residents will embrace the store.

“Texada is an absolutely beautiful place to live, but it can be a challenge to make sure you have everything you need all the time, so there’s a lot of planning ahead. We hope to fill that gap for people and make their lives more convenient.”
