School District 47 administrators have announced a new principal for Brooks Secondary School next year.
Westview Elementary school principal Jamie Burt has been selected to replace Kathy Rothwell when she retires this summer.
District 47 superintendent of schools Jay Yule announced Burt as the Powell River Board of Education’s choice Friday, June 27.
As principal of Grief Point Elementary, Burt oversaw the transition last summer of the school to become Westview Elementary. Prior to that he served as principal of Henderson and James Thomson elementary schools as well as vice-principal at Brooks Secondary.
Burt will start in his new position Friday, August 1.
