City of Powell River’s draft annual report has been published so the community and elected officials can provide feedback.
At the June 3 committee of the whole meeting, deputy corporate officer Jessica Walls said the report would be available for feedback from council and the public. The annual report is available at city hall for inspection, and it can also be found online at powellriver.ca until June 18. According to a staff report, there will also be an opportunity to provide questions or comments at the June 19 city council meeting. Deadline for approval is June 30 of each year.
Councillor and committee chair George Doubt thanked Walls for the report.
“I hope everyone in town reads it,” said Doubt. “It has a tonne of information.”
The 2024 annual report’s introduction states that Powell River has a wonderful mixture of world-class arts, culture, recreation, heritage, festivals and the best in education and infrastructure.
“All these things and more have drawn many people to Powell River to build a different kind of life in a safe and comfortable environment, with the best that British Columbia and Canada can offer,” the report stated.
The report provides key statistics, messages from mayor Ron Woznow and former chief administrative officer Lisa Bhopalsingh, the city’s vision, mission and values, an outline of city departments, the city’s strategic pillars for 2024 to 2026, plus the city’s consolidated financial statements as of December 31, 2024.
