Names committee

City of Powell River has appointed its liquid waste management plan monitoring committee.

At the December 17 city council meeting, councillors voted to appoint Sid Allman, Robert Grantham, Stephen Miller and Karen Skadsheim to the committee, for terms expiring June 1, 2023. The committee will be chaired by councillor Jim Palm, who holds the city’s portfolio for infrastructure.

Extends mandate

Council voted to extend the mandate of the emergency services facility select advisory committee to December 31, 2021, and that the number of committee members be amended to involve up to seven members, which would include one council member and six City of Powell River residents or property owners. The committee is chaired by councillor Maggie Hathaway, who is the portfolio holder for protective services.

Two grants

City council approved two cash grants-in-aid at the council meeting. One will go to the Powell River Action Centre Food Bank, valued at $10,000, and the other will go to Powell River and District Christmas Cheer Committee, valued at $2,000.
