Powell River city councillors adopted a bylaw to amend sewer user rates at a recent meeting held at city hall.

Approves sewer system bylaws

City of Powell River Council has approved two bylaws related to the city’s sewer system.

At the March 18 city council meeting, councillors adopted a bylaw to amend sewer system user rates, and the sewer collector system bylaw.

Councillor Jim Palm said the bylaw alterations were to address in-house wording changes. He said there were no additional charges on any of the sewer rates applied, it was simply matching up the correct categories with the correct charge.

“No one has been affected,” added Palm.

Public hearings

City of Powell River will schedule two public hearings for zoning amendments.

One is to consider amending the land use designation and zoning of vacant property on Boswell Street to permit industrial development. The city has received several letters from neighbours opposed to a change in the sustainable official community plan amendment.

The second public hearing will pertain to the planned rezoning of a property at 104-4154 Manson Avenue, adjacent to Powell River Academy of Music. The owner of the property has applied to rezone the property from R2 – single and two-family residential to CD4, which would entail comprehensive development for four residential small lots.
