Poplar Street

Police stopped a vehicle after observing it being driven erratically. The 31-year-old female driving the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment. A breath sample was obtained which registered a “fail.” The female was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days under the Motor Vehicle Act.

2. August 3

5500 block Maple Avenue

Police responded to a theft report. A lawnmower valued at approximately $400 was taken from a backyard. The make is unknown, but it is a newer model with a five horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine. The lawnmower was taken sometime between August 1 and 3. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

3. August 4

4900 block Ontario Avenue

Police responded to a reported theft. An Apple iPad was stolen from a residence. The stolen iPad is loaded with approximately $2,500-worth of speech software that is required for a child with special needs.
