1. December 1

Joyce Avenue near Crofton Street

A collision involving three vehicles occurred. A 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee was travelling southbound and failed to stop in time as a number of other vehicles were waiting for the red light at Duncan Street to change to green. The vehicle collided with a 1998 Toyota Sienna which was pushed forward colliding with a 2002 Jeep Cherokee. There were no injuries but one of the vehicles had to be towed due to the extent of the damage.

2. December 2

6300 Oak Street

Over $300 in cash was stolen from an unlocked parked vehicle. This is a reminder to residents to secure their vehicles and remove anything of value to help deter thieves.

3. December 2

5500 block Maple Avenue

A lime green Norco 21-speed girl’s bike valued at approximately $400 to $500 was stolen. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS), www.bccrimestoppers.com.

4. December 5

At approximately 10 pm RCMP stopped a red 1991 Ford pickup after a compliant was made against the driver. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and was requested to provide a breath sample. The driver refused, which resulted in the vehicle being impounded for 30 days and driver’s licence being suspended for 90 days.

5. December 5

Marine Avenue at Courtenay Street

At approximately 11 pm a blue Ford F150 was observed spinning its tires and revving its engine while it turned from Marine onto Courtenay. After stopping the vehicle it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol and subsequently failed a breathalyzer. As a result the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours and the driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

6. December 6 and 7

9300 block Highway 101

7. December 7

1400 block Highway 101

At approximately 2 am a store was broken into. Various items including cigarettes and liquor were taken. A description of the suspect, based upon the video surveillance, portrays a male wearing a grey/white plaid jacket with a hood, black pants and gloves while covering his face committing the offence.
