1. Between December 17 and 29
4500 block Harvie Avenue
A deep cycle 12-volt battery was stolen from a trailer located on a property.
2. Between December 28 and 29
4300 block Westview Avenue
Approximately $300’s worth of property was taken from a yard. The missing items include a three-foot LED lighthouse, a two-foot parrot on a brass ring and numerous pieces of six-foot garden trellis.
3. December 29
5000 block Joyce Avenue
At approximately 7 pm Powell River RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked at a public facility. The RCMP located the suspicious vehicle and spoke to the two occupants. The police officers observed drug paraphernalia within the vehicle which turned out to be two small packages of crack cocaine and a crack pipe. One of the vehicle occupants now faces the criminal code charge for possession of a controlled substance.
4. December 29
7000 block Glacier Street
Approximately 35 tablets of prescription painkiller OxyContin were taken from an apartment.
5. December 31
5900 block Highway 101
At 11:50 pm a Powell River RCMP officer, while making routine patrols, observed a green Ford Escape exit a liquor establishment with the windows covered in enough frost to obstruct the driver’s ability to see the road. After stopping the vehicle it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol and after providing two breath samples it was determined the driver was impaired by alcohol which resulted in the vehicle being impounded for three days and the driver’s licence being seized for three days.
6. January 4
4400 block Marine Avenue
At approximately 6:30 pm a female wearing a Santa hat entered a store and selected a $28 bottle of vodka then left the store without paying. The female is described as being approximately 50 years old, five feet, four inches in height, and was wearing a white Puma sweater under a black jacket along with the Santa hat.
