1. June 30 to July 3

7000 block Glacier Street

A school was damaged at some point during the four days. Two windows were broken and the building was tagged with graffiti. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

2. July 1

Joyce Avenue and Highway 101

A vehicle was observed weaving on the road and crossing the centre lane which forced oncoming traffic to make evasive manoeuvres in order to prevent collisions. The RCMP stopped the vehicle and determined the driver was impaired by drugs. The driver’s licence was subsequently seized for 24 hours and a violation ticket, which carries a $196 fine, was issued for driving without consideration.

3. July 3

Duncan Street at Bowness Avenue

At approximately 6:30 pm Powell River RCMP conducted a traffic stop after observing a driver who was prohibited from driving. After stopping the vehicle it was confirmed that the driver had a suspended licence. As a result the vehicle was impounded and the driver has been charged with Driving while Prohibited contrary to Section 95 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

4. July 5

Manson Avenue

At approximately 2:30 am a Pontiac Sunfire was observed being driven at fluctuating speeds both above and below the posted speed limit while travelling northbound. The vehicle was pulled over by police and it was determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver’s licence was seized for 90 days.

5. July 5

Joyce Avenue at Barnet Street

At approximately 10 pm a black Chevrolet pickup truck drove over the meridian. The truck was stopped by police and the driver demonstrated significant signs of impairment.  After failing two breath samples the driver’s licence was seized for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
