1. Cranberry Lake area

There have been numerous thefts from vehicles in the East Cranberry Lake area. Powell River RCMP is conducting extra patrols each night in order to apprehend the culprit(s). Police urge the public to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables. Any suspicious activities can be reported to the RCMP 604.485.6255.

2. March 4

Police responded to an industrial incident were a steel cable broke and hit a worker’s head nearly causing serious injuries. The victim was later released from the hospital with cuts to his head.

3. March 6

7100 block Alberni Street

Police stopped a vehicle near a parking lot after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver. After speaking to the male driver it was determined that he had consumed alcohol. A breath sample was obtained and, as a result, the male was issued a 90-day driving prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.

4. March 9

4500 block Marine Avenue

Police responded to complaint of theft at a liquor store. A male was apprehended and arrested. The male is well known to the RCMP and is currently being held in custody facing several similar charges.
