1. November 13
Westview and Cranberry
A Powell River citizen picked up a female hitchhiker on Marine Avenue near Courtenay Street and dropped her off in Cranberry. Shortly after dropping off the hitchhiker it was noticed that the driver’s wallet had been stolen. The female was described as approximately five feet, six inches tall, Caucasian, with brown hair. 2. November 15
Marine Avenue
Around 10:30 pm Powell River RCMP conducted a roadblock in the area locally known as The Cut. An approaching vehicle abruptly stopped approximately 400 metres away. An RCMP constable quickly approached the vehicle and determined that the vehicle occupants were attempting to switch seats in order to hide who was driving. The investigation resulted in the driver being identified and found to be impaired by alcohol. The vehicle was impounded and the driver is now facing potential criminal charges of driving while impaired.
