4700 block Joyce Avenue
Powell River RCMP and Powell River Fire Rescue responded to a suspicious fire. A recycling bin was engulfed in flames resulting in $1,000 damage. Prior to the fire a group of youth were observed lighting off fireworks in the area. 5000 block Joyce Avenue
Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male refusing to leave a commercial establishment. Police attended and located a heavily intoxicated 65-year-old male passed out within that location. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held in Powell River cells until sober and able to care for himself.

Joyce Avenue
Shortly before 11 pm police observed a vehicle travelling south without any functioning lights. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver exhibited signs of impairment. A breath sample was obtained which resulted in a “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days under the Motor Vehicle Act.
