1800 block Highway 101

Police responded to a report of a break and enter near Lund. It is believed the break-in occurred sometime during the previous two weeks. Entry was gained through a set of sliding doors. Once inside the thieves took several electronic devices including a 60-inch LG flat screen TV and a Playstation 3 gaming console.

2200 block Abbott Road

At approximately noon, police were alerted to another break and enter in the Lund area. It was determined over the past two days entry was gained to the residence through a cat door. Once inside a drill and a Viking commercial diving dry suit were stolen.

Scotia Place

At approximately 3 pm a complaint was received of a possible impaired driver. Patrols were made and the vehicle was located.  When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made attempts to evade police but a dead-end halted the escape. The driver, a 41-year-old Powell River man, has been charged with driving while prohibited, flight from police and possession of a controlled substance. He appears in Powell River Provincial Court today, Wednesday October 29, to answer to the charges.

Powell River RCMP are investigating on-going incidents of theft of ministry of forests, lands and natural resource operations traffic signs posted along local forest service roads. Numerous signs have been reported stolen from the Duck Lake Road/Dayton Road area as well as along Goat Lake Main. Since January 2014 the ministry estimates the sign theft and/or damage of signs to be over $5,000. While not only dangerous, persons responsible for the removal of the signs could be held criminally responsible should another person be injured because of their actions.
