Various locations

Police received a number of reports of damage to vehicles and gasoline being siphoned. A 2004 Dodge Dakota had its rear driver side window smashed while it was parked in Lund. Two illegally parked vehicles on Highway 101 in Lund had their tires deflated. A stereo was stolen from a locked vehicle parked along Powell Place. A vehicle parked at Mowat Bay had its fuel siphoned. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to please contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

August 27

Police arrested a man after he tried to sell a brand new power drill, still in the box with price tag attached, at a construction site in Powell River. RCMP conducted an investigation and determined the drill had been stolen from a retailer. With help from store surveillance police were able to identify the suspect, who is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

August 27 to August 29

Police took three impaired drivers off the road. In each case the driver’s licence was seized for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 30. RCMP stopped an impaired driver at noon on August 27 near Pine Tree and Evergreen roads. Police stopped the impaired driver of a 2013 Nissan Titan at 2:45 am on August 29. Police stopped the driver of a Chevrolet Blazer for speeding near the Italian Hall at 9 pm on August 30.
